I am a recent convert to the UKIP cause. Prior to the June 2004 European elections I hadn't really taken much notice of the party, and had been drifting between the Tories and the Lib Dems. I read the whole of the party manifesto and found that I agreed with just about everything that the party stands for.

I thought that it would be helpful and encouraging for party members to have a voice outside of the normal confines of a party. I was especially pleased that the party actually sent out an appeal for manifesto suggestions. That is not something that I ever experienced from the Lib Dems or Conservatives. It bodes well for a truly democractic party. Hopefully this site will become an extension of that principle and will allow sensible debate of new policies.
