Hello, I've just signed up to this forum and look forward to participating. I am a great supporter of British democracy (or indeed of democracy throughout the world), as well as of freedom. Politically I would regard myself as a traditional social democrat. What does 'social' democracy mean? Well, just as political democracy means that rulers are chosen by the people, I believe that social democracy means that (to quote a certain document) 'power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many, not the few'. Not a very widely held belief these days, perhaps, given that the gap between the rich and the poor grows ever wider. In terms of the EU, I am fairly Eurosceptic, and opposed the UK joining the Euro (and those who did take this position will probably feel their view has been vindicated by recent events).
Well anyway, I hope that's enough for a first post ... I look forward to reading more posts and replying in due course.
Welcome Platinum. The forum is the Wild West of current affairs and judging by your intro, I'll think you will be one of straight shooters!
