You think the rest of the Afghan is a picnic do you?[/QUOTE]
There have been people like that in the Army since it began. Did you not educate yourself that thousands of British men went awol in World War I and who could blame them after seeing what they saw? Being scared doesn't mean you are weak willed and not fit for the Army, it's natural. However those people should not be in the Army full stop.
Of course not, but Helmand is the worst province by far, just like Basra was the worst province. The Americans for a superior nation as it and moronic anti-British Britons like yourself say, it sure as hell likes taking the easier options and objectives whilst managing to lose twice as many troops as the British Army.
Yeah those Americans. They're superior alright.![]()
Who gives a toss if they complete a training exercise? The 101st US Airborne DIVISION has been fighting in Baghdad these last five years whilst the Paras have been hiding in Basra Airport cutting deals with the local gangstas along with the rest of the British Army.
The Americans lose more soldiers because:
A. They've got twenty times more fighting.
B. They do fight rather than play tea Party's with the local militias.

They don't "love their country", most can't wait to get out and sign up as mecenaries for Big Oil in Iraq because they pay more. Lets be real, no-one in their right mind signs up " to fight for their country", that's not what the UK military do. There are good reasons to sign up, but patriotism isn't one of them.
If they loved their country so badly they'd be back here fighting it's real enemies and not playing action man kiss chase with a load of mountain goats in Central Asia.
I don't like it but that is the way it is and I'm not going to pretend it not just to conform to the latest outbreak of senseless militarist jingoism. Our military is a joke, like some tragic disabled kid mascot of the US Army.
