Default Brief extract

Brief extract from the Sun article on the link given in the first posting to this thread:

"Tyrant Robert Mugabe was last night accused of effectively plotting a violent coup so he can stay in power. Zimbabwe’s opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai believes Mugabe, 84, has delayed issuing election results so he can intimidate voters in a run-off. But the Movement for Democratic Change boss hopes Mugabe – in power since 1980 – will be ousted with help from other African nations."

I noted Jacob Zuma the new ANC leader and likely next President of South Africa is far more strident in tone than Mbeki has been as regards the publication of these election results, which if published accuretly will certainly show that Zimbabwe has regected Mugabe. It could be Mr Zuma could be a clear playerhere.

Default Sky Television News, Mugabe, Southern African summit, strike, election results

I just heard on Sky Television News that Mugabe may not go to the Southern African summit talks which are to be held about this matter.

The report also said that the opposition in Zimbabwe have said that there should be a General Strike if Mugabe does not release the results of the Presidential election which recently took place.

Opposition from fellow African states is a must if Mugabe is to go. I too have heard the call for a strike and think it a good idea in principle.

Default President of South Africa says there is no crisis in Zimbabwe

The President of South Africa has today said that "there is no crisis in Zimbabwe" according to Sky Television news (it is said that he could, of course, exert pressure on the anti-British tyrant Mugabe quite easily if he wanted to given that his country supplies Zimbabwe with a large amount of electricity):

Default Peter Longworth, former High Commissioner, Zimbabwe, Mugabe, African, Gordon Brown

Peter Longworth, former High Commissioner to Zimbabwe, just said (at 5.17 pm) on Sky News "He (Mbeki, South African President) has no choice to say this (that there is no crisis in Zimbabwe) - if there is no crisis why is it taking two weeks to count 6 million votes." Mr. Longworth said "It is because the result (of the recent elections) is so disastrous (for Mugabe) that they do not know how to manage it."

Mr. Longworth said that other African leaders "can't let this great hole in their region called Zimbabwe (which Mugabe has created) carry on if they want to attract investment to their nations."

Robert Mugabe described Gordon Brown as "a tiny dot on the world stage" Sky Television News reported at 5.18 pm today.

They obviously have better things to do than get involved with other countries. The African States seem to have a policy of non interferance

I think it is more the case of the old boys club sticking together against the old colonial masters argument. Very dated that is as well.
