I suggest that many are.
In 2007, an 'artist' called Guillermo Vargas Habacuc caught a stray dog on the street, tied it up on a short leash to the wall of an art gallery and left it there to die slowly of hunger and thirst. Over the next few days, the artist himself and visitors to the gallery watched impassively as this happened. Now the prestigious Central American Biennial of Art has decided that this was art and has asked Vargas Habacuc to repeat his actions in the Biennial of 2008. If you don't believe it, Google the artist's name... Please sign the petition: Boicot a la presencia de Guillermo Habacuc Vargas en la Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008 Petition |

No worse than the Spanish and what they do to donkeys.
Or the British and what they do to fish in the name of sport. Or the Scottish and what they do to sheep. (Have you ever thought about how a haggis is made?) |

I totally agree on this! Commercial fishing, one is hauled up in a net , if you don't die then from asphyxiation then, you will when you land on the deck of the boat, most are still alive when they're gutted! Line fishing for sport, and the know nowt's who think fox hunting is cruel but that fishing isn't. They say fishing isn't cruel because fish don't feel pain! How many fish have they asked?

The thought of the Labour government banning coarse fishing would have been laughable a few years ago. Not so sure now. They have seen that forcing their voters to camp outside in the freezing cold outside working mens clubs to enjoy a ciggarette has been met with no resistance whatsoever.

So you think starving a dog as a work of art can be excused by comparing it to fishing?
Care2 - Dog used as art, tied up, starved to death |

LOL!
If the poor sod knew what was going to be done to its kishkas it may well chose to! Of course it'a rotten thing to do to a dog or any animal but we should take care before condemning others when what we take for granted is less than decent especially sport angling and when research now indicates that fish DO feel pain. |

That isn't savage, it is a perfectly legitimate use of property.
Arguably unethical, but not savage.

It is how I would expect savages to behave. To starve a dog to death as a work of art while apparently cultured people watch is what you would expect of savages. I am not aware that Costa Rica ever attained a civilised state so it is not decadence.

You want savages?
I’ll give you savages. People who have their daughters genitalia mutilated in order to prevent them getting pleasure from sex in order to keep them “pure” in later life. They’re blo*dy savages. People who kill their daughters if the feel their daughters are in some way “diss-ing” them They’re blo*dy savages. People who tie bombs to kids and the feeble minded and send them off to kill civilians, they’re blo*dy savages. People who kill others who decide their faith isn’t for them, they’re blo*dy savages. People who send bombs into crowds of civilians who are enjoying themselves in a way that the attackers don’t approve of, they’re blo*dy savages. People who abuse animals as some perverted idea of it being art? They’re just sick. |
