Default Britain ready for invasion?

I have to admit that there's a similar thread on another forum, but it's an interesting idea.
The latest post reads: `The US can `invade' Britain and restore democracy here at any time, a division of US marines would soon kick this communist government out of power.'

That's the last thing we need.

American imposed democracy, i.e. pseudo-tyranny.

bornfree,

How would a division of US Marines arrive in the UK unnoticed and remove our government? Where would they come from?

The invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan required alliances with surrounding countries so that hardware could be built up on the borders of the respective countries. Iraq's airforce had been destroyed in the previous Gulf War and its army was short of equipment. Iraq did not have nuclear submarines. Afghanistan was in a worse condition and couldn't muster a properly equipped combat battalion to meet the invasion from Uzbekistan.

The UK has, despite the cuts, a substantial air force (noble, spirited men), an Army and a Navy. No one has invaded us since 1066 and a division of marines would have to be assembled in France without us picking up on the signals. As we are part of NATO we have exchange officers embedded within the US Marines as they have exchange officers in our armed forces. I think they'd get wind.

This theory is so much hot air it really isn't worth considering.

I once saw a TV program about a US (aircraft) carrier group. One of the bridge staff on the carrier arrogantly stated that they could park it off anyone's coast and there's nothing that anyone could do about it.

I remember thinking to myself: "Yes, and a couple of buses of Millwall fans could systematically work their way through the whole ship and kill everyone on board before suppertime".

Effectively, our government has already been removed - by the EU. I don't think the US has any problem with that.

the EU is more of a threat to our sovereignity than even if the whole rest of the world tried a land invasion.

If they only promised not to let them go again we could have the Gov't all boxed up and ready in Dover by the end of the week - when celebrations could then commence across the country (Independence Day)

The US invaded iraq in the name of democracy I reckon we might better take our chances with the commies in the EU.

Next point the EU do not regard them selves as commies they just are.

Last point it's the commies from with in that our the problem not the ones out side the UK who exactly would they be kicking out you don't see most labour supporters walking round with a hammer and sickle on an arm band.

One extra last point we have no large oil reserve I can't see America getting involved.

Second extra last point America it's self is verging on communism/fascism.

If this were to happen do you think our Euro "friends" would help us out?
A resounding no would be my guess.
