Lemon is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Electric death made in China

Are Labors preparing to genocide? In 2009 they are going to forbid manufacturing and using of traditional energy guzzling bulbs and force us buying those most expensive “energy saving” light bulbs at Ј3 per piece.
By the way British physicians say that those efficient bulbs are very injurious to health. They may even cause cancroids. And look at producing country. Most of those bulbs are made in China. No doubt that’s some kind of provocation or even plot against British nation.
There’s never been any stability in our relations with Beijing. Chinese can’t forget that Hong Kong had been British for hundred years. They aren’t even able to establish their communist system of laws up till now there. They also try hard to force us out of world market. And now vindictive Asiatics are playing one dirty trick after another on us. But our recent government isn’t able to control even British police that managed to lose State property at cost of Ј700,000. What can it do with such unfair business partners?

One of the purpose of the China Bashing habit us diverts our attention away from the failing economy and infrastucture at home, especially with regards to Britain amd U.S.

From the yellow peril to the green peril, our anxiety with environmental concern and a rapidly growing economy in the East and bash China's economy as an excuse to avoid the harsh discipline of the free market need to be put under detailed scrutiny.

Any source linking to the news on bulbs above? It would be interesting to look at.

Are the Chinese exporting their deadly cancroid (sic) causing bulbs to Lhasa? It might save 'em quite a bit of trouble if they are!

They’re NOT capable of inducing cancroids, a form of skin cancer, than any other domestic fluorescent light.

Even the bringing on of head aches from the usually impossible to detect 50Hz flicker is largely negated now by the use of longer persistence phosphors within the glass envelope.

There IS a slight issue with them and that is they contain a miniscule amount of metallic mercury inside of the glass envelope, but even then it’s only a fraction of what’s in a full size fluorescent tube and even then such hazard as there is only occurs when the glass envelope is fractured.

The amount of exposure to the mercury, even if they break in an airtight room, is less than you get from spending a day in a room with an open mercury (“walking stick”) barometer unless it is in a sealed container (in which case it wouldn’t work!) and as long as the bulb envelope remains intact it’s 100% a non-issue.

Where there may be a case to answer is in the energy budget from a “dust to rust” or full life perspective. The low energy (actually miniature fluorescent) lamps do contain components that do not degrade in use and are just dumped when the bulb fails due to age, but that’s probably a loss that is significantly offset by the reduction in the energy that’s consumed during the working life of the bulb compared with that from an incandescent bulb.

The next generation of low energy “bulbs” is just now hitting the public and that’s the light emitting diode type.

These work on the basis of the release of light as a result of a quantum change across the depletion layer of some semi conductor materials when a current flows.

In this case there are hazardous materials used both during manufacture and in the final item but here again as the active part of the lamp is encased, actually embedded in gin clear plastic, there should never be a problem.

Ban the Bulb -- If all 4 billion incandescent sockets were filled with CFLs we'd have nearly 50,000 pounds of mercury spread around every single US household
Dimwits: Why 'green' lightbulbs aren't the answer to global warming | the Daily Mail
Sick And Tired Of Being Lectured By Global Warming Hypocrites

Some snippets:

"And it gets worse. As Chinese manufacturers add enough manufacturing capacity to produce ten times as many CFLs , they will need several new coal-fired power plants to run the new factories. This comes on top of the already breathtaking pace today of construction in coal fired electric power plants in China - at a clip of one new plant every week. Don't even think about asking about what kind of pollution control will be operating on those Chinese plants.

A tax on poor people in the US so the Chinese can add more coal fired power plants. Now there's a bright idea."

Exactly - if it IS for GW(do me a favour) then it's total hippocrisy.

Is that actually true though?
You have to balance the increased power required for manufacture against the reduction in power resulting from the use of CFLs.

Mains frequency flicker is possible with conventional ballasts for fluorescent fittings. CFLs use electronic ballasts which typically run at tens of kHz.
The Mail got that wrong a while back - probably Booker again.

Rather than "doubting" everything why don't you try actually posting some information to support your argument for a change.

"for a change" not "for change".

You see you really can't read properly can you ?

There's your proof......
