Default Another snub for China Olympics - well known American film-maker not going

It was recently announced that HRH Prince Charles is not attending the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in communist China this Summer - now another well known person has indicated that he will not be going (the EU maintains close links with communist China):

Default Brief extract

Brief extract from the article on the link in the first posting to this thread:

"Last month, The Daily Telegraph revealed the Prince of Wales, a long-time supporter of the exiled Dalai Lama, had told the Free Tibet Campaign he would not accept an invitation to the Games."

Default Brief extract

Brief extract from the article quoted in posting number sixteen of the thread on the link in the last posting to this thread (from: "Burglars steal Prince's letters attacking EU", by Daniel Foggo, 18/05/2002):

(Quote from Sunday Telegraph) The Prince's lack of support for European legislation is clear in the letters. Prince Charles is known to hold reservations privately about Britain's involvement in Europe, and he was recently reported to have told a dinner party guest that he would not mind if Britain left the EU completely. He has also lamented that the building of the Channel Tunnel has left Britain no longer an island. In public, however, he is constrained by the convention preventing members of the Royal Family from making political statements. (End of quote from Sunday Telegraph)

I wont be watching the games from China, that dictatorship is evil, there human rights record is appaling and there persecution of Christians totally sickening.

I'm not going to watch the Olympics again full stop. I never realised what a horrible political football it was until now.

That won't be too difficult this time - China is about eight hours ahead of us which means that at least half of Olympic events will be taking place while it is night time here (i.e. those Olympic events in China held in the morning and early afternoon Peking ('Beijing') time).
