Romney supporter slams McCain for supporting Obama and Kennedy
Bay Buchanan, a leading supporter of Mitt Romney, told Andrew Boulton on Sky Television News at 11.08 am on 3.2.2008 in answer to the question (Quote) What is wrong with Mr. McCain as the Conservative (Republican candidate)? (End of quote):
"He's not one (i.e. he is not a Conservative)."
She added "He has tried to stop all moves to Conservatism in this country. He leads Amnesty in the senate. He is for benefits for illegal immigrants. He is for stem cell. He is against tax cuts. We should stop illegal immigration. Stop benefits for illegal immigrants. Make it illegal for employers to employ illegal immigrants. Through attrition, they will realise that this is not such a great place to be an illegal immigrant in and in will go. Those that won't go should be found and removed. Close the borders. Americans want border control. McCain backs Obama and Kennedy on immigration. He is pro-choice (i.e. Republican politician Mr. John McCain is not anti-abortion). Mitt Romney (who is - like Mr. McCain - running for the Republican Party Presidential election candidacy) is pro-life (i.e. anti-abortion). He is against stem cell. He takes a strong stand in defending the institution of marriage. McCain opposes this."
Economist Irwin Steltzer said on Sky Television News at 11.12 am today "Yes, let's control the border. McCain backs the family. The supporters of Romney don't like the fact that McCain didn't support Bush's tax cuts - but that is in the past: let's move on."
