Should the Republicans lose the Presidential election, and find themselves short of candidates, what chance of President Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Would Americans, many of whom idolise Schwarzenegger, wish a change of law allowing foreign-born USA citizens to stand for the highest office?

The 'Governator' has turned himself into a leading figure of the Republican party. He's won elections and his handling of California’s financial crisis has made him a popular figure at previous Republican party’s conventions.

There are several proposals afoot that, if passed, would allow anyone who's been a US citizen for 20 years to run for President. Allowing Schwarzenegger, who became a citizen in 1983, to stand.

There is a major camapaign underway to change the constitution so that Arnie can run. I think 2012 could be the year for him.

Yes, so I recall.

To be honest he would actually be a fairly 'normal' candidate looking at the political field in the USA of recent years. A frightening thought, i know. He is actually quite a clever guy, which scores him higher than the current President.
