Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has come third in the Florida Republican Party Primary held on 29.1.2007.
John McCain won with Mitt Romney second. There is now speculation that Mr. Giuliani (who got 15% of the vote in the Florida vote) may quit the Republican race for the American Presidential elections; throw his support behind Mr. John McCain and might possibly become Vice President of the USA if Mr. McCain wins the next American Presidential election. Mr. McCain made pleasant comments about Mr. Giuliani in his winning speech after the Florida result was declared. Billary Clinton beat Barack Obama in the Florida Democrat Primary held the same day but the result will not be officially recognised because the votes of Florida Democrats are not being counted. Florida, with its large population and often close election results, is one of the most important states in American politics. |

Brief edited extracts from the BBC report on the link earlier in this thread - the following explains why the Florida Democrat vote will not be included in the overall result (i.e. in the total number of Democrat Party delegates elected to the National Convention which will formally endorse their candidate for the American Presidency):
"Hillary Clinton won a largely symbolic victory in the Democratic vote. No delegates are at stake for the Democrats because the state's Democratic Party has been penalised by the national party for breaking rules on when it could hold its primary. The BBC's Kevin Connolly in Orlando says Mr McCain's win probably makes him a slight front-runner going into Super Tuesday - but the closeness of the margin may also encourage Mr Romney. The result means Mr McCain will take all 57 delegates in what is a winner-takes-all primary - the biggest prize of the primary season so far." |

Good riddance to Giuliani. 30 million dollars he wasted on this one state and still got whupped. Romney blew 30 mil too, but then he can afford to.
McCaine used his MSM backing in full to take the war lovers state. Paul did badly, even though he didn't spend any money here, I hoped the grassroots would get him 5% at least. Still, we will see if his startegy of concentrating on other states like Maine pull off for him.
