I was very much under the impression that Chirac only clung onto power for as long as he did in order to put off the day of his investigation/prosecution.

As gratifying as it is to watch Chirac's fall from grace, it does not bring forward the day when Britain shakes off the shackles of the Eurosoviet. Unfortunately.
