Cool Commonwealth questionnaire puts European Countries should decide on common policies

Look at this questionnaire, look at the answers of question 9. http://www.byc.org.uk/downloads/SNAP...mmonwealth.htm

The British Youth Council want to know what you think about the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of 53 independent and sovereign states nearly all of which were once British territories. The Commonwealth seeks to promote democracy, the rule of law, good governance and human rights, as well as economic and social development. There are many different opinions about Commonwealth value in today's world, there are also many other interesting aspects about it on the web, if you feel you don't know enough try to look at different sources of information including the below website. The Commonwealth secretariat: www. thecommonwealth.org

Q1 Do you think young people (12 - 25 years old) in the UK know a lot about the Commonwealth?
Yes

No

May be

Don't know

Q2 Where have you heard about the Commonwealth before?
From friends and family

In the media

At home

At school

On the web

Other

Q3 What do you think of, when you hear the word Commonwealth?

Yes

No

Maybe

Don't care

Q5 Do you think that young people and youth organisations should be involved in deciding on the future of commonwealth?
Yes

No

Comment:

If yes: How do you think young people could be involvedin deciding on the future of the Commonwealth?

Through being consulted by the UK government
Through attending Commonwealth conferences
Through Commonwealth Youth groups and Parliaments
Through focus groups and questionnaires
Other :

Q6 How could Commonwealth activities and values appeal more to young people?

Q7 How do you think young people can help in realising the values of the Commonwealth: Democracy, Development and Diversity?
Through volunteering in our local communities

Through participating in exchanges with other commonwealth countries

Through cultural activities

Through campaigning on important issues

Through setting up commonwealth youth groups and internet networks

Through organising trainings and seminars

Other :

Q8 What do you think are the key areas for the Commonwealth in the next few years?
Conflict

Health including HIV/AIDS

Globalisation

Environment

Economy

Security including terrorism

Human rights

Education

Other :

Q9 Do you think the Commonwealth countries should decide on a common "Commonwealth" position on issues like whether to send troops to the Iraq war or should each country decide for itself?

Each country should decide for itself

European countries should agree on common foreign policies

Other:

Q10 Do you think that the Commonwealth should be open only for the countries which were a part of the British Empire?
Yes

No

Doesn't make any difference

If yes, please comment:

Many thanks!! Your comments will be fed into a consultation report to be taken by young people to the Commonwealth Youth forum Uganda. For further information contact Daniel Smith at the British Youth Council, Daniel.smith@byc.org.uk

The same thought occured to me so I e-mailed Daniel Smith asking the question.
I received this reply:

It’s a mistake as the previous questionnaire template was taken from a questionnaire on Europe . Thanks for pointing this out, we changed it last week, please see the new questionnaire on this link: *

Best Regards
Dan

The questionnaire as it was written did nothing to help those who have no understanding of the concept pertaining to either geography or current affairs.
