Default Asian nations pledge closer ties

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asi...ic/6256351.stm

Quote:
Ten Asian nations meeting at their annual summit in the Philippines have agreed on closer ties, anti-terrorism and moves towards free trade.
The leaders of the Association of South East Asian Nations (Asean) agreed to form a closer political unit and to bring in a free trade zone by 2015.

They agreed to consider plans which would replace Asean's consensus politics with a tougher stance.
Oh what a suprise. Another superblock formed. One World Government in our time is well on the cards. Nill democracy, nill freedom. Just one big global dictatorship.

Isn't 'World Government' a natural progression of things?

Like the many tribes of England uniting into mini Saxon kingdoms? Then forming England? Then the UK?

Same with other nations (India, China, European countries)

Surely growing growing unions between peoples occur with the onset of better technology and transport.

It wouldn't suprise me if all the nations of the world one day unite, and we have one language, race and government.

Not saying it's desirable, but it might be the natural way forward for humanity - as history has shown. If the world government was a prosperous peaceful and democratic union upholding the rule of law and public accountability, would you oppose it?

Would the monopolies commision allow it?

The problem is that you can only go so far and then internal tensions will tear it apart, this is because we are all only human

It is totally impossibe for it to be a functioning democracy. The more people are involved, the less democracy works and the more distant and out of touch the centre becomes.

Of course it could happen, who would have thought 62
years ago that France and Germany would be such big players in the governance of Britain! At least the forming of a World Government would solve the immediate population growth, millions would die in the ensuing power struggle to be one of the FEW in charge. If that is the future for mankind, I just hope the "big asteroid" they talk about lands, BANG!!!!
