Serb suspect 'can be force-fed'

I don't see how you can justify force feeding someone against their will in this situation. If he wants to die that bad, then that's up to him isn't it?

Or is keeping him alive to be punished right? Kind os sadistic if you ask me.

Didn't some lefties (UN, EU, whatever) recently say that force-feeding folks was a form of torture?

So it's OK at the Hague but not at Gitmo?

I don't believe in force feeding anyone, who doesn't want to be fed. Their body, their choice.

No doubt he will be fed with whatever they gave President Milosovic and say that it was a result of his hunger strike, no independent post mortem, just their word.

The hunger strike is now over. Seselj's demands have at least been partially met. He needs to play the 'game' at the Hague rather better than he has so far done so that he isn't forced into such a personally dangerous situation again. I say game because the verdict is predetermined regardless of the evidence presented, in my opinion.

My (very limited) understanding of his defence is that the alleged paramilitary forces which allegedly committed crimes and were allegedly under his control were to whatever extent they existed actually under the control of Zoran Djindic (the post Milosevic era US puppet Prime Minister who was assassinated) and/or Vuk Draskovic (the current Serbian Foreign Minister). The political party of Djindic was the Serbian sister party of the party that Radovan Karadzic led in Bosnia-Herzegovina & Republika Srpska.

(AP) A Serb war crimes suspect ended his nearly monthlong hunger strike Friday after judges allowed him to conduct his own defense and granted several other demands, the U.N. Yugoslav tribunal announced.

Vojislav Seselj began his hunger strike Nov. 11 to demand unrestricted spousal visits, the right to defend himself and the replacement of the three judges trying his case.

The U.N. tribunal's appeals chamber did not replace the three judges but reprimanded them for ordering a lawyer to take over Seselj's defense, saying the lower court "abused its discretion." The lower court had appointed the lawyer after stripping Seselj of the right to represent himself for refusing to attend hearings in his trial.

The appeals court restored Seselj's right to defend himself, and it had earlier conceded to his wishes on spousal visits. It was not clear what other demands were met.

Seselj has started eating, and his trial has been "suspended until such time as he is fit enough to fully participate in the proceeding as a self-represented accused," the appeals chamber said.

Seselj, who surrendered to the tribunal in 2003, is charged with plotting with former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and other leaders to purge non-Serbs out of parts of Bosnia and Croatia during the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s.

He has pleaded innocent and faces a maximum life sentence if convicted.

Seselj, 52, who has been in a hospital wing of the Dutch jail that houses the tribunal's detention center, had been drinking only water and refusing medication for his asthma. A team of doctors picked by Seselj's supporters examined him earlier this week and warned he could die within two weeks.

In Belgrade, the Serbian government official in charge of relations with the tribunal said the end of Seselj's hunger strike was "good news."

"Our efforts have produced results, everything is now back in regular court proceedings," Rasim Ljajic said.

Seselj had also demanded that prosecution documents be given to him on paper rather than computer files and translated into Serbian, which is not an official language of the court. He also asked that word limits on his court filings _ which often are long and rambling _ be removed, and that the court recognize a team of more than 20 legal advisers.

Seselj remains the leader of Serbia's opposition ultranationalist Radical Party, whose increasing popularity has become a major threat to the administration of Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica ahead of January elections.

They like to call them Ultra-Nationalists but most of these men where members or commanded by the Serbian Socialist Party.

Seselj opposed the Serbian Socialist Party. But the indictments of the ICTY state he was engaged in a joint criminal enterprise with many individual leaders of that party + others. That includes people he never met, spoke to or had any association with whatsoever!

Seselj is the commander-in-chief of the modern-day Chetniks (also labelled "war criminals" by Tito after their brave fight in World War II), who was imprisoned several times by the Yugoslav communist authorities (who regarded Serbian nationalism as the biggest internal threat to Yugoslav communism) and also by Milosevic. Milosevic was neither a communist nor a nationalist, more like a political opportunist who wanted to cling onto power at any cost. The real communists are the UN/NATO/EU globalists who are trying to rip the historically-Serbian Orthodox Kosovo from Serbia, thus culturally dismembering the only remaining obstacle to EU expansion in the Balkans. It is shameful that so-called "conservatives" have collaborated in the persecution of what the late Alan Clark called "a brave and Christian people who have never injured or even threatened a British citizen."

The 13th Waffen SS division were responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Jews, the destruction of Synagogues, Catholic Churches, Orthodox Churches and atrocities against the general Serbian population.

The KLA, fighting for a "greater" Albania, they are continuing to persecute and murder Serbian civilians in the Muslim occupied Kosovo, Churches burned and Serbian civilians attacked while the "peacekeepers" do nothing. The aim of the KLA is to expand Islamic influence from Albania and Kosovo into Macedonia, Northern Greece, Serbia, and Bulgaria where they are also starting to cause tensions. Their long term aim is to create a Muslim corridor from Turkey to Albania.
