Default “we’ll walk them Spanish now”

NATO summit should be called USA summit. And all other countries were graciously allowed to present on it. It looks as if all decisions had been already made long before this summit.
Thus they’ve imposed us their conclusion about participation in military operations of those countries whose objective earlier was just supplying with support and engineering missions’ conducting. Now those soldiers would be obliged to go into action if other allies would get into life-threatening situation. They meant Germans, French and other Europeans of course.
Those self-satisfied American bother only about their own asses and they are extremely contented with this idea. “We’ll walk them Spanish now” – told one US representative of high rank to another. So no doubt that if there is no such situation Americans would provoke it expressly. Americans are doing their best to drag Europeans into fighting. Mark my word Europe would got plenty of trouble in “hot spots” after that summit. And we’ll shed tears then over our passive role of a mute at the summit.

At the end of the day though, nations can just pull out of Nato or refuse if they think the wrong thing is being done. None of the European nations were forced to go to Iraq for example, though who knows what bullying went on behind the scenes.

When the neo-communist EU starts trying to throw its EUFOR weight around one day, the nations will have no say in the matter. They will have to do as they are told.

Nato is obviously dominated by the USA, seeing the US is the most powerful player. That doesn't stop the other countries doing what is right though. France even went beyond that and did some grandstanding to wind the USA on purpose.

Have to disagree with Ris. Nato's biggest power is the USA but they certainly dont dominate it and other nations go their own way as can be seen in respect of Afganistan .
Although Nato voted unanimously when the Taliban was overthrown that it it was essential for the West's safety to ensure the success of a Democratic Govt the burden has essentially been placed on 4 Nato members Canada, Holland, UK and USA and to a lesser extent some of the new members e.g Poland. We then have the chicken countries , Germany ( whose freedom and independence was sustained by Nato and whose capital ,Berlin, survived because hundreds of US and British airmen were willing to die to break the Russian blockade) and France whose inferiority complex towards the US and ourselves ensures they do everything they can to mess things up.
Again in the last unholy mess that the Europeans got themselves into ,the fiasco of the disintegration of Yugoslavia , it was until tens of thousands had been killed that the USA was to help and within a short space of time becuase of US power the warring parties were brought to heel.
Some European countries are selfish ungrateful and cowardly.
