Default Saddam Hussain to Hang!

Quote:
Saddam Hussain has been sentenced to death by hanging.

Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been convicted of crimes against humanity by a Baghdad court and sentenced to death by hanging.

He was found guilty over his role in the killing of 148 people in the mainly Shia town of Dujail in 1982.

His brother Barzan al-Tikriti was also sentenced to death, as was Iraq's former chief judge Awad Hamed al-Bander

Former vice-president Taha Yassin Ramadan got life in jail and three others received 15 year prison terms.

Another co-defendant, Baath party official Mohammed Azawi Ali, was acquitted.

Saddam Hussein shouted out "Allahu Akbar!" (God is Greatest) and "Long live Iraq. Long live the Iraqi people!" after the judge announced the verdict.
Well, I believe that justice has been done, this god awful man has bought to account for his unforgivable crimes. This is a great day for Iraq and for every inteernational democracy.

I still don't believe in the death penalty. Not even for Saddam.

Sharing a cell with Bubba for the rest of his life, yes. Hanging, no. :?

I was quite shocked to see John Reid welcoming the decision. I thought Britain was supposed to be against the death penalty.

Nothing like double standards is there.

Sadly that's what he is supposed to do.

I haven't seen any reprimand from Bliar or any condemnation from the "opposition ".

Even Minge Campbell couldn't bring himself to point out this hypocrisy.

Another open goal for UKIP I feel.

UKIP can't lose on this issue either. All it has to say is does the government believe in killing criminals or not? If they do, then is the UK going to get a referendum at least?

No principles in Labour.

That was my feeling precisely, except for the shock factor! The Blair regime oppose the death penalty on principle. Except for Saddam Hussein and his male colleagues in Iraq that is.

How exactly do you square that circle?

Either killing as a found guilty in court is wrong, or it isn't!

In the Orwellian times we are living in though, the answer is what they want it to be at the time. On this occasion 2+2=5.

Even the Independent is telling everyone that state executions are good now.
