Iran is not Iraq, nuclear weapons or not. Not only does the country have 4 times as many people as Iraq, it is 4 times bigger, and geographically it is simply not tank country, as Hussain discovered in his war against Iran. It might not be as physically as arduous as Afghanistan, but the terrain is not suited to the mechanised armies of the West.

The aggression shown by Bush and his gang of neo-cons, together with the 51st state, Israel, is disgraceful. These people think they can ride roughshod over the rights of entire peoples and sovereign nations.

Last time a nation behaved in that way, and lost, its surviving leaders ended up before a court in Nuremberg. A similar court exists today in The Hague, and that is where Bush, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the Israeli leaders belong.

Only two more years of Bush to go, but those two years will be dangerous ones when the moron tries to stake out his legacy by attacking yet more nations whom he and his neo-cons do not like.

Leaving an enormous mess for whoever succeeds him in the White House to clean up.

There has been a lot of talk that the russians may be arming the Iranians,as a payback for Afganistan.

The sooner the Bush/Bliar administrations go,the better the world will be.

iran cannot be allowed to own equipment like nuclear war heads.
if the get them they likely will use them.
we have to stop them.
iraq war has made this ten times more difficult.
we shouId support the USA with its no nuclear for iran position.
sadly so many of us think the yanks are crazy, I do not , I ask anyone to investigate the USA and I think if they are honest they will say at the very least, here is a member of the free world doing the best it can to keep it free where it can. Iraq invasion the exception - though again argue about it if you will but we still have to have a policy on iraq and iran or just be in the worlds playground observing wrongs and sitting on our hands.

Hear! hear!

I read in the Telegraph that a talented black senator called Barack Obama could become the Democratic nominee.

If so he'll hoover up the black vote and sock it to the Republicans and Neocons.

They're just a bunch of out-and-out racists anyway.

why not - when the west keeps theirs?

who has the authority to decide who is a safe pair of hands and who is not?

The genie has been out of the bottle for some time now - India, Pakistan, Nth Korea, Israel, loads of 'ias' from the previous USSR.

Only global disarmament from nukes may solve this.

If the West really is serious about not allowing anyone else to have nukes, then that's the only morally sound position to take.

No one in the west is willing to do that though. So we have a situation where we are telling other countries to get in their place, as they can't be trusted, but we can.

That's never going to fly with vast chunks of the world and it effectively condemns us to endless terrorism.

Endless terrorism means an excuse to tighten the controls ever further on the people. Thus it's not exactly a bad thing for government that wants to implement fascism.

Seeing as the EU is about post democratic governance and it's implementation, I am pretty confident they won't be to upset at the thought of endless terror to further their objectives.
