UN gives Iran 30 days to halt uranium scheme
30.03.2006 - 09:59 CET | By Teresa Küchler

The 15 members of the UN Security Council on Wednesday (29 March) unanimously called on Iran to suspend uranium enrichment activities within 30 days and cooperate with UN nuclear watchdog the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Bombing should commence in time for the World Cup then.

Iran's armed forces on Friday successfully test fired a domestically produced missile which can evade radar, state television reported, a development analysts said could be worrying for Western forces in the Gulf.

Western nations have been watching developments in Iran's missile capabilities with concern amid a standoff over the Iranian nuclear program, which the West says is aimed at building atomic bombs. Iran says the program is civilian.

"The missile command of the air force of the Revolutionary Guards has successfully tested a new generation of missiles," Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guards air force, told state television.

"This missile can evade radar and it can evade anti-missile missiles," he said.

"This technology is completely new, without copying any other missile systems that may exist in other countries," he said, adding that the missile could carry multiple warheads.

Lee Willett, head of the military capabilities program at London's Royal United Services Institute, a defense think-tank, said the missile could be a worry for Western navies in the Gulf, wary of threats that could cut off shipping lanes.

Why should it be a worry for western navies ... unless they attack Iran?

Of course it has to be a worry. Iran is a theocratic Muslim state which has denounced all non muslim countries, plus some muslim countries which believe in a different branch of Islam, as evil and deserving destruction. It is a country which has annexed islands belonging to small Arab gulf states,it is a country which is providing technology to kill British soldiers,it is a country which believes its destiny is to lead a jihad to destroy non-believers.

I am sure you will consider these as biassed sources but sources such as BBC World, the Independent web site, the Iranian embassy website, the UN website. Of course less biassed sources such as the Israeli Govt, the Saudi Arabian and other Arab Govt have also indicated their anxiety about Iran's intentions. So it is not just the UK and Us governments which are making these points.
You have to remember Iranians are Persians whilst ,though it is stating the obvious, Arabs are Arabs and they do NOT like each other. Add to this the fact that Iranians belong to the minority Shia strand of Islam then it is not surprising that worries are being expressed by Arab and other Islamic states.

However given the visceral anti-americanism which exists such sources will not be believed until Iran carries out its first nuclear weapons tests and fires its first nuclear warheads.

Iran has stated categorically it wants nuclear power only for domestic power use.

So far there is no evidence to the contrary yet folks can hardly wait to attack Iran.
