Default Group warns bill contains national ID

http://worldnetdaily.com/news/articl...TICLE_ID=47840

Quote:
An umbrella organization of dozens of groups that monitor legislation affecting civil liberties says a new immigration-reform measure contains a provision that could lead to de facto establishment of a national identification scheme.

Officials with Liberty Coalition say the bill, called the "Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act," ominously "creates a dangerous new national identity database system and firmly establishes the predicate for a new national ID card system."
Some things are the same world over.

Difference being, all the anti-ID card people over there are sitting in rural compounds with thousands of assault rifles under their beds.

I don't think they're gonna make it wash over there. Seriously.

Ain't that the truth. The founding fathers did not give their citizens the right to bear arms to shoot burglars, though noble enterprise that may be, they gave them the right to bear arms to shoot cops ! If one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, what were the men women and children who died in the Waco siege ?

An American freind of mine noted that in the USA if any politician suggests an undermining of basic civil liberties he will be deafened by the howls of protest. In Great Britain , land of the magna carta, everyone goes "Huh! barcodes tattooed across everybodies foreheads, yeah! OK, if it will help stop crime". Alas in this country too many people have a laizes faire attitude towards civil rights, and believe no harm will flow from their erosion.

I worry for my country, seriously I do !
