The U.S. Congress’ House of Representatives has voted to provide Russian political parties $4 million within a new bill regulating allocations on foreign operations and financing of export.
The bill also provides $95 million for the so-called Democracy Foundation run by the State Department. $6,5 million will be spent on democracy programs in Iran and Syria. Venezuela will receive $2 million, and $1 million is to be spent on democratization of North Korea.
On the whole the U.S. will spend $20.9 billion on foreign operations in 2006. The bill is due to be approved by the Senate and signed by the U.S. President George W. Bush.
