Default Support for EU down among its members

BRUSSELS, July 18 (UPI) -- A poll released Monday finds that residents of the European Union are less positive about the EU and its institutions.

But the survey for the European Commission found that overall Europeans still believe that belonging to the EU is positive for their countries, the EU Observer reported.

The British, Finns and Austrians were least favorable, while the Italians, Irish and residents of Luxembourg were most favorable.
Italy suprises me. Good to see Britain leading the way still! Hi five to all UKIP'ers for that at least.

I'm very suspicious of these surveys though. How do they ask people? I've never been asked, that's for sure.

I notice that Eurostat polls are always strangely more favourable to the EU than comparable national polls.

It's true. They probably ask if you are a Liberal Democrat, Guardian reading, non-fisherman and make sure you have Le before your second name, before asking you if you are for the EU or not.
