Default Brussels fears growing French euroscepticism

http://news.ft.com/cms/s/72a2a11e-97...00e2511c8.html

Quote:
Tensions between Paris and Brussels intensified yesterday as José Manuel Barroso, the European Commission president, warned French politicians they were fuelling euroscepticism ahead of May's referendum on the European Union constitution.

Mr Barroso said he was "amazed" at the tone of the European debate, while Günter Verheugen, EU enterprise commissioner, urged calm in the debate and said the atmosphere in France had become "poisoned".
Thats it antagonise the French, they respond well to that kind of thing.

Quote:
While Brussels is used to dealing with euroscepticism in Britain, the phenomenon has taken hold in France and Germany. The two traditional allies in the construction of Europe face competition in their labour markets from the EU's new members.
I think you could call it the countries bankrolling this stupid project, waking up and smelling the coffee. Whats going to change this tide change? One size fits all doesn't work, we are beginning to see the results of this.

Quote:
PARIS, March 17 (Xinhuanet) -- A slim majority of French people will vote against the EU Constitution in the referendum scheduled for May 29, an opinion poll showed on Thursday.

About 51 percent of the surveyed said they would reject the constitution if the referendum was held today, with 49 percent backing the treaty, according to the poll conducted by the CSA polling agency and published on the Le Parisien newspaper.

Also 53 percent of the surveyed said they will abstain, cast blank ballots or have not made up their minds on the treaty, showed the poll, conducted Wednesday and Thursday among a sample of 802 people over the age of 18.
First time I have seen a negative poll prediction from France. Of course they still have a massive propaganda campaign to come.
