Default Bush cites Iran as 'primary state sponsor of global terror'

Quote:
He chastised Iran as the "primary state sponsor of terror" and promised Iranian reformists the backing of the US: "As you stand for your own liberty, America stands with you."

Syria was given a similar stern warning to "end all support for terror and open the door for freedom". Mr Bush also urged Egypt and Saudi Arabia * US allies which have previously had a virtual free pass on their internal repression * to do more to foster democracy.

Washington - 31 January 2005: IRAN is the real American/Israeli target now; and hard as it may be for many to realize at this point both Iraq and Palestine have in a sense become side-shows. The other major concerns for the Americans, no matter what they say in public, are to shore up the client-regime police-states in both Saudi Arabia and Egypt - the keys to continuing control of the entire region.
Neither Iraq nor Palestine represent any strategic threats to either the U.S., Israel, or the American-sponsored regimes that control the the Middle East. These are now conflicts that need to be 'managed' by the Americans through a combination of CIA, military, money, and propaganda/political power.
In Iraq an 'exit strategy' is all the rage. The idea that the 'election' was a 'great success' is quite ludicrous; but massive ubiquitous propaganda goes a long way these days, especially among the guillible American citizenry. The Bush Administration knows very well it cannot keep spending hundreds of billions yearly and dozens of dead weekly. Iraq's military has been destroyed; the country has been infiltrated at all levels; and the new Constitution about to be written under U.S. military occupation will prevent Iraq from being any kind of regional threat for a long time to come. Those were always the primary American concerns; along with controlling regional oil, petrodollars, and regimes. And though at considerably greater cost than they had originally intended the Americans think they can accomplish those actual goals.
