"The Government is acutely conscious of the threat of a reduction in CAP expenditure and has determined that its priority in the negoiations is to ensure that adequate funding is provided for the CAP so that it can continue to support Irish farmers and rural communities and so ensure that we can face the future with confidence."

You see Ireland, this is the problem. You have benefited greatly from all the EU subsadies that have been thrown your way. Now there are a lot more nations with much greater need than you. Britain will be squeesed for more cash of course, but Ireland are going to have to take a back seat now. Sure this means a lot of artificial projects will collapse and sure you no longer have control of your finances. So there may be trouble ahead.
The EU is like a crack dealer to these countries. Get them hooked, then treat them like rubbish. Sorry Ireland, you will find that out the hard way! Even if the EU manages to squeese Britain for all it has, it will still collapse in the long run.
