Default EU chief seeks renewal for flagging bloc

http://www.eubusiness.com/afp/050126141355.o6js1k88

Quote:
European Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso called Wednesday for a "European renewal" to reverse the economic decline of the continent, which he said is at a crossroads requiring urgent reform.
Barroso, setting out his goals after taking office in November, said the reform task facing the expanding bloc was as big as any of its strategic achievements over the past two decades.
"We must release Europe's enormous untapped potential," he said, underlining to the European Parliament that economic growth and job creation are his top objectives for the next five years.
Warm wooly words that try to hide the real problem here. The EU is a sick animal, it;s foundations are rotten, it's structure is falling apart, and it is full of parasites.

Sorry but this sick sick animal needs to be put out of it's misery. If the EU is not put down now, the whole of Europe will pay for it big time in the future.

Quote:
"We must take the Lisbon Agenda for growth, which for five years has underperformed, and turn it INTO phpbb_an effective tool for a continent facing economic decline," said Barroso.
HOW?????????
Quote:
European Socialists chief Poul Nyrup Rasmussen immediately slammed Barroso's plans as empty rhetoric.
Spot on Poul!

Quote:
"The Barroso Commission's five-year work programme amounts to little more than a thinly-disguised Neo-Conservative agenda. This is not the European way," he said.
Ahhhh, the EU is neo-con now!! The EU is nothing more than a polititians wet dream from 40-50 years ago. It appeals to no-one, as it is relevant to no-one. This folly needs to stop now.

Quote:
"The top priority today is to restore sustainable, dynamic growth and jobs in Europe," said Barroso, lamenting that Europe's economy has failed to keep up with key global partners over the past decade.
"We must launch a period of European renewal," he added.
Renewal is spot on. The EU needs to be scrapped!

Quote:
And this applies not only to the economy, he said. The EU is sputtering politically, battling to digest its "big bang" expansion from 15 to 25 states last year while at the same time facing mounting public euroskepticism.
Funny how they spelt it the American way!

Quote:
"Europe is at a crossroads. The status quo is not an option. I believe that the time for courageous change has come," he said
.

YES. He does mean the UK leaving doesn't he?

Quote:
"We must embark on a process of transformation as bold and as courageous as the single market in 1985, the launch of the single currency, or the unprecedented enlargement of the EU to 25 member states," he said.
"This will require real leadership, both by European institutions and by governments ... I believe we must build a dynamic partnership for renewal, a partnership for prosperity, solidarity and security in our continent."
That gets my Birdseye Potato Waffle of the Year award.

British people are SERIOUSLY going to be asked to sign up to this farce? I am almost lost for words!

But not quite!

Aha well spotted! It's all a cunning plot to eradicate British English. We should campaign to get a proper British English computer program installed throughout the world.
