EU praises Bush speech
24.01.2005 - 09:49 CET | By Honor Mahony US President George W. Bush's inaugural speech has received praise from the other side of the Atlantic. The European Commission's chief spokesperson on Friday (21 January) welcomed the positive signals contained in the 16-minute speech marking the beginning of Mr Bush's second four-year term in office. "We welcome the indication that he (Bush) has given of the willingness of the Bush administration to have a strengthened relationship with the EU", said Mrs Francoise Le Bail. "We are happy to note that". In a speech peppered with references to liberty and freedom, Mr Bush made an overture to multilateralism saying "all the allies of the United States can know: We honour your friendship, we rely on your counsel, and we depend on your help". Oh, really, this is just too much. Dubbya's speech was a loadabalona.

You have to make some little noises, to at least pretend you want to be friends though.
