Default The bigger they are the harder they will fall ...

Consider a company which states its clims to fame as follow:

€12.3 billion in revenues in 2003
74,100 employees
91 million individuals served with drinking water
49 million individuals receiving sanitation services
64 million individuals provided with waste services
1 billion people supplied by Degrémont plants
75 million individuals served in waste services
7.3 billion m3 of drinking water produced in 2003
2.4 billion m3 of wastewater treated in 2003
195,000 km of drinking water distribution networks managed,
96,000 kmof sewer networks managed
10,000 water-treatment plants built over 65 years
1,581 wastewater-treatment plants managed.
1,255 drinking-water production plants manages
200 industrial water plants operated and maintained
Information as of December 31, 2003

Now that is the parent company of another which is again the parent company of yet another which, I have been told "Currently employs 20 immigrants (allegedly illegal immigrants) in one area in the U.K. at the rate of £2 per hour ... these people each daily work double shifts, sweeping the streets during the day and emptying bins during the night in order to earn enough to survive."

No, I will not name any of the companies at this time until/unless I receive the necessary details and proven facts about this allegation.

All I will say at this time is, it is a global company, based in Europe.

Saddens the heart to know there are such dubious practices going on. Earning £2 an hour in the UK, is effectively modern day slavery! The only way they could do it is by exploiting desperate illegal immigrants.

Of course, it may be possible that the local company is hiding these facts from their parent companies, but it needs addressing none the less.

The thing is, the immigrants may not be 'illegal'.
They may well be folks who are awaiting for their applications to be processed.
Until the process is completed they will not be, legally, allowed to work.
Somehow - they need to survive ...

My beef is with the company which is on the surface a respectable one with contracts with local authorities while underneath they are exploiters of the weak and underprivileged.
