Legal attempts through the courts - including the European Court of Human Rights - have so far failed to overturn the ban.

Sounds familiar. Wonder why they chose this country to flee too???

I know that post WW2 not every law passed by the Nazis was expunged from the German statutes.

In the 1930s the Nazis passed a law saying that only an allopathic doctor could treat patients. But this left a lot of traditional/alternative 'Hielpraktitoners' (I doubt I spelt that correctly!) out on a limb so the Nazis granted them a legal 'grandfathers right' to carry on. At the same time they brought in a stringent examination that any aspiring new hielpraktitoner had to pass. This law was not repealed and stands today. Consequently although patients can today get access to alternative treatments such as acupuncture/homeopathy etc, it is most commonly administered by an allopathically trained doctor. Of course there are some non doctors practicing these sorts of therapies, but the hielpraktitoners exam is such an obstacle that they are relatively few in number.

Why the Allies did not remove every single Nazi law from the German legal canon is something of a mystery to me, but I offer this. The Allies wanted a swift and smooth transition to a stable democratic Germany so probably just removed the most odious and obviously Nazi laws and overlooked the rest.

Unfortunately it seems today that the consequences of that act of negligence are echoing down the corridors of history.

So we have to trust and believe that whatever school our children go to will teach them all of the things they need as adults, especially with the schools with smaller class numbers closing and most super schools opening where your darling child is just a number or a name in a register? Things are slowly getting worse...
