A spokesman from the Government's Border and Immigration Agency said: "During 2008 we are making sweeping changes to border security, putting in place one of the toughest border security systems in the world."

Bull****! they know they cant do that and Australia's borders ARE better protected than the UK's ever will be at this moment in time and they dont at the moment ask or say to you that your personal details will logged ever time you go to australia.

Winston Churchill.

When Labour won the 1997 General Election, Enoch Powell told his wife that the electorate had voted to break up the United Kingdom.

Absolutely Steve, this is exactly getting like what is happening in America where they're throwing the borders wide open to millions of Mexicans.

And they pretend protecting us from terrorism is so important....

What a joke !

Shame it's so damn serious. I suggest everyone types "open borders nau" into google.

As for the UK, we're not SO bad now but things are unlikely to change for the future.

I thought this times article summed it up quite well....

Too late to speak the truth about immigration | Minette Marrin - Times Online

Oh my god I am starting to agree with mainstream media !

They are logged when the traveler applies for a visa (only New Zealanders are exempt from needing to do that) and when he/she fills out the mandatory entry and exit control forms for Customs and the Border police.

These border changes will only be introduced to a level that will acceptible to the EU, as the EU wants Britain and Ireland to join the free travel aspect of Schengen. Once they have the Lisbon treaty ratified and Schengen sorted across the board, then watch them consilidate Europe into a state with a trans-European border police.
The Italians have already been pumping money into detention centres in Libya which will be used to send illegal immigrants too.

I might be wrong, but I get the impression that the EU will do everything to scupper any plans we have for border control, until they have complete control and can implement their own policy.

Yes, their aim is to turn Europol (the EU agency which just duplicates the work of Interpol) into an EU version of America's FBI.

If nothing else - and nothing it probably will be - the criminals who responsible for all that damage and violence should have been birched. A minimum of half a dozen strokes for each of them would have made their eyes water!

It wouldn't matter whether that particular punishment did any good; it would certainly give me a feeling of satisfaction and a belief that some punishment had actually been inflicted!
