We have at least one million illegal immigrants in the UK (total population of the UK is 61 million) - and most of them are in England (population 51 million).

As we (the UK) are a member of the EU (something the UK never voted to join - no referendum was held before entry) we have to allow the nationals of 26 other EU nations (combined population 420 million) entry into the UK without a visa. Your country, the USA, does not have to (by law) let in the nationals of the 26 nations nearest to you geographically.

It's quite tough to be illegal, when all of your neigbours have free access.

I'm afraid all "our" Poles are moving eastwards to Britian thesedays. Can't say I'm too upset by it. Ireland and the UK were foolish enough not to put any caps on the numbers of migrants from new EU states back then so I suspect they'd already had their bags packed and flights booked by the stroke of midnight.

Modern over political correctness is preventing any serious debate on the subject of "internal EU" migration. Immigrants won't go in large numbers to places where they can't speak the language which means the UK and Ireland get the majority of them.

I agree.

We don't want this east european influx. Here in London there are now more Poles than in most Polish cities.

They take British jobs. Some employers may benefit from cheap labour - but we pay in the end through taxes to pay out dole (i.e. social security) to unemployed people who can't get jobs because east europeans have taken them.

Very true.

The cost to the UK of the eastern european influx since May 2004 is huge financially despite the denials of this Labour shower we have in power in Westminster.

The Irish people should be (and I am sure are) pleased that some of the east europeans may be quitting the Emerald Isle.

I think some Poles will leave the UK to go to work in Germany when EU rules force Germany to open up to eastern european workers (Germany, is, of course, nearer to Poland than we are and many Polish workers could commute daily into Germany).

I believe EVERY single immigrant is coming to Inverness - Roos-shire.

We have 4 Polish food shops in Inverness and several TESCOS for the English.

I know a small village here in England where at least one cafe has an eastern european working in it. Is it like that in almost every village in the UK I wonder?

There are plenty of Polish employees on the night shift in the Tesco store in Truro, they don't speak a word of English. I expect this situation is replicated elsewhere.

There are Polish food stores down the road from me in Cardiff too.

At least the Pollack’s haven’t an agenda to convert us all to being Polish or obey Polish law, be subjugated, and pay a “poor tax” to them.

Now, about immigrants from other places .......

My local Tesco employs only Poles - not one single British worker. And I'm surrounded by Polish food shops.
