Did you read the Express article? Most of the 1.3 million were tourists or short term visitors. That's exactly the point I was making. BTW, what would you call someone who works and pays tax their whole life in the UK, then goes to Spain to collect a pension and use services such as healthcare?

Maybe they can't spell 'Polack'? Maybe they can't spell 'leeches'? That would make them look pretty dumb.

The Poles are here, more permanently, therefore your post was IMHO very dishonest and misleading to others.

(Sorry about previous spelling mistakes)

It's considered by most on here bad manners to point them out though.

The Brits who moved to Spain were welcomed by the Spanish government well before Spain even joined the EU and no longer had any say in the matter. Brits took their money to spend in Spain and they weren't competing with the natives for jobs - just the opposite they were creating jobs for Spaniards.

Would that be more dumb that people who voice an unresearched opinion as fact? No, before you jump to the conclusion that I am slating you it's not about anything you said, I was just saying.

The original post and article suggested that 1.3 million Poles moved to the UK. If you read the article you see that the figure of 1.3 million is the number of Poles entering the UK. Some of them may have entered several times. Many of them will have been on holiday or visiting. My link to the number of Brits entering Spain was to point out the absurdity of the whole thread. For example, I myself entered Germany eight times last year. The express figures would count that as eight Brits moving to Germany.

I wouldn't normally bother but making them while insinuating that Poles are stupid ("Pollacks in the USA are the butt of most jokes") left too tempting a target.

No, less dumb. Spelling mistakes and typos happen to everyone and are not a sign of stupidity. Holding an unresearched opinion as fact is a sign of stupidity.

Even worse, while the British are getting worked up about hard working culturally homogenous EU migrants it takes attention away from the real problems with immigration. In thirty years the Poles moving to the UK today will be the old boy in the corner of the pub with the funny accent and his English children. The kids born in the UK will consider themselves English and will not in any way be anything but English apart from perhaps a name with a few too many Z's. What are the children of the immigrants of thirty years ago doing?
