I think that there are four or five countries in europe that illegal immigrants are heading to in large numbers - the UK obviously (if one counts us as being in europe), Germany, France and Holland (plus non-EU Switzerland). Those seem to be the places that have the biggest influx problem. Maybe I should include Italy, too. But there are some EU nations who are taking next to no migrants. And there are other EU nations who appear to be more than pleased to let the illegal immigrants go 'forward' to Calais and Dover rather than send them back east and/or south-east to eastern europe, the Balkans or beyond from where many of these illegal immigrants first set off. I don't think that countries such as Belgium, Italy, Spain and France are doing nearly enough to throw these illegal immigrants out of their own countries and send then back. They seem to believe that the best way to get them off their soil is to let them head for the UK. In other words, part of the problem of this unwanted influx into the UK is the authorities of France, Spain, Italy and Belgium. Yet another problem for the UK to emerge from EU nations. |
