As I have suggested before, if UKIP would accept MMGW and the prospect of increasingly freak weather conditions, as is predicted, they would have a clear, concise and easily understood message that our infrastructure cannot support those already here, let alone in worsening conditions. This would provide a powerful arguement for leaving the EU to escape an immigration policy which allows 400k + economic migrants to settle here if they so choose.
Instead they continue to gripe about the periphery which has proven not to capture the public's imagination, whereas being unprepared for climate change coupled to an increasing population might. |

Scaring people with voodoo might be some peoples idea of winning an argument, I tend to like to leave that to the corrupt.
There are plenty of solid reasons for controling immigration, using the one stop scare shop of MMGW will prove counter productive in the end.

FWIW, I agree with Matt. Opportunistic policy making is something that only sets up problems for the future. UKIP doesn't have an opportunity now because it can't get it's act together.
If, by some fluke, UKIP manages to get a decent leadership together with coherent policies and an effective means of communicating them, the last thing they want is to set up a minefield for a few years down the line. Far better to sit on the fence than try and use something that might provide a short-term gain when there are no short-term possibilities. Climate change is not going to be much of an issue in the European elections and if UKIP do get some success (and it is a very big IF!) then nothing will be lost even if the MMGW lobby do make some scientific breakthroughs - unlikely, but hey, anything is possible. As for other electoral arenas, UKIP are about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit.

I don't need a telescope to see the obvious. The hysterical attemps to blame MMGW for everything now by some is ridiculous beyond the extreme.

We always need a scapegoat and the use of MMGW is a great opportunity for the control freaks and tax gatherers
