Seriously though, the 600,000 Poles in the UK (plus those from the Baltic states, central Europe, Russia etc) is bound to increase and mix and marry with British people, as this happens it is likely our religion (as witnessed in other threads) will change, as will our politics, surnames, foods, culture and other aspects of life. Especially as many of the Eastern Europeans are young, Christian English speakers, I know a couple of people already who have met a Pole and a Croat and will be getting hitched later this year.

I'm not saying I think its a good thing (nor a bad thing) but I do think that unlike other immigrant groups the Eastern European populace will eventually merge in with the majority and rather than lead to unrest will in fact change the UK's culture.

I agree. The Polish culture is so similar to ours that I don't perceive this as a threat at all.

A lot of Poles fought in WW2 and stayed here but they have assimilated and there where not as many as there is now and in those there wasn't the PC insanity as there is now

I like the Poles it has to be said. I haven't met a single one who isn't a throughly decent person.

So in a points system, I would be tempted to give them bonus points.

The bottom line though is yes everyone wants to go to the cup final, but if you don't have limits and controls, then no one will see it and a lot of problems will occure as everyone tries to cram in.

The way I figure it, the more Poles there are here the less space there is for *cough*otherpeople*cough*.
