In a survey of 1,003 Muslims by the polling company Populus through internet and telephone questionnaires (for the pro-Cameron Conservative Policy Exchange group) 37% of 16 to 24-year-olds said they would prefer sharia law (reports today’s Guardian).

Here are some more details about the survey/poll/report for Policy Exchange on Muslims in the UK and their views on various matters.
The author of the report, Munira Mirza stated "the emergence of a strong Muslim identity in the UK is, in part, a result of multi-cultural policies from the 1980's." The report reveals that a growing minority of Muslims in the UK are motivated by political Islam, feel less comfortable with those of another faith (more so than their parents) and back Sharia law in the UK, Islamic schools in the UK and female Muslims in the UK wearing the veil. Some Muslims groups were exaggerating the problems of Islamophobia (in the UK), the report concluded. It added "Islamist groups have gained influence by demanding for Muslims the right to be different." The report suggested that there is a clash between moderate Muslims in the UK and those in the UK who rejected 'western democracy'. Other findings: 84% of Muslims believe that they have been treated fairly by British society. 75% of Muslims thought it wrong that High Wycombe council banned an advertisement for a Christmas carol service in 2003. 74% of 16 to 24 year old Muslims in the UK think it better that females of the Muslim faith wear a hijab (compared to 28% of Muslims in the UK who are aged over 55). 7% "admire organisations such as al-Qaeda who are prepared to fight the West" - however that figure rises to 13% among 16 - 24 year-old Muslims in the UK. Among followers of Islam aged over 55, 3% backed groups such as al-Qaeda. 28% of Muslim people in the UK think that authorities have "gone over the top" in trying not to offend those of the Islamic faith. 71% of Muslims aged over 55 in the UK think they have more in common with people of other religions in the UK than they do with followers of Islam outside the UK. But this drops to 62% among Muslim people aged 16 to 24 in the UK. 37% of 16 - 24 year olds who follow Islam in the UK want to send their children to Muslim state schools. 19% of Muslims in the UK aged over 55 said the same. There's a difference between "fighting the west" and "mindless slaughter". Al-Qaeda tend towards the latter. A point well covered on the recent series of 24, actually. |

Muslims are so uncivilised. How come the west is rich and Muslim countries poor? Because we have shunned religion and dont use retarded backward laws which are so barbaric they should be in the Medieval times not in the 21st century. When are these stupid pratts going to realise that what they believe in is doomed to failure? Islam is an enemy to democracy and civilisation and needs tlo be stopped. Its not racist or discriminatiory, its common sense.

As a guess, I think most of those were born and raised in UK. So what practical experience do they have of sharia law? |

Here is some Sharia law for you.
Cameron was right for a change on Sharia law. It's fascism plain and simple.

They will only be one winner and as is stands it wont be us.
I live in a town with 17,000 Muslims and I do admire the way they stick together and act as a united force. Somthing we English people havnt done for atleast 40 years. |
