The following are reports from the BBC and ITV Ceefax/Teletext services regarding newly released immigration statistics (which include details on the massive influx from eastern europe). I have shortened the ITV report (which follows that from BBC Ceefax) because it included information in it already covered by the report from the BBC:
1500 migrants arrived to live in the UK every day in 2005, official figures said. Government figures say that 185, 000 more people came to live in the UK in 2005 than did emigrate – a population growth rate of 500 a day. The number coming to the UK is 17000 lower than the 2004 but immigration levels remain high. The number of eastern europeans arriving in the UK is up – as is the number of people leaving the UK. Source of above: BBC 1 Television Ceefax, analogue page 104, 2.11.2006 at 4.03 pm. In 2005, 565, 000 people arrived in the UK saying that they intended to stay for at least a year. In the same year, 380, 000 people left the UK (1000 a day) – of which 198, 000 were British subjects. The number of people leaving the UK has risen. One out of every five British subjects leaving the UK in 2005 went to Australia. The next most popular destination for Britons moving abroad in 2005 were France and Spain. The largest single group of immigrants to the UK in 2005 were 121, 000 new arrivals from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and Bangladesh (‘new commonwealth’ countries). The number of those who arrived in 2005 from eastern europe is up by more than half on the 2004 figure – 80, 000 came to live in the UK ‘long term’ in 2005 (compared to 52, 000 in 2004). In 2005, there were 64, 000 more east europeans in the UK in 2005 than in 2004. Most of the east europeans who came to the UK in 2005 did so to work rather than to study or marry a British subject. A large majority were Polish – 49, 000 (three times more Poles than in 2004). Source of the above: BBC 1 Television Ceefax, analogue page 125, 2.11.2006 at 4.19 pm. ‘Immigration total hits 565, 000’ More than half a million immigrants – or more than 1500 people every day – arrived in the UK last year, official figures have revealed. Meanwhile, 1000 people a day left the UK to live abroad. Source of the above (brief extract): ITV 1 Teletext, analogue page 323, 2.11.2006 at 4.24 pm The number of people coming to live here for a year in 2005 was 17% down on the 2004 figure. The Office for National Statistics said “This still continued the overall trend of high in-migration into the UK that began in the late 1990s. Two third of net-in immigration to the UK was from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.. In 2005, 80, 000 people from eastern europe came to the UK to stay for over a year (up 50% on 2004). The net in-migration figure from eastern europe (the eight eastern european nations which joined the EU in May 2004) was 64, 000 in 2005, the Office for National Statistics said on 2.11.2006. The figure differs from previous Home Office figures released which claimed that 205, 000 eastern europeans arrived in the UK in 2005 seeking work. ONS said that, of the 64, 000, about 49, 000 were Polish. Liam Byrne, the europhile pro-immigration minister in the Blair regime, stated “There are still 80, 000 vacancies on the job market. Vital migrant workers have given the British economy a £4 million boost.” Byrne may actually have meant to say £4 billion – but it doesn’t matter what figure he gives. He doesn’t back up any such claims with hard evidence. The leftist pro-Labour and europhile political ‘think-tank’ the Institute of Public Policy Research, said “the majority come here because they have the right or because we want them too. We have a healthy economy that attracts workers all over the world and world-class education that attracts international students.” Sir Andrew Green, the Chairman of MigrationWatch, the independent immigration monitoring service, said “these figures confirm that we are facing the largest wave of immigration in history. The data from ONS shows that immigration levels were four times those of 1997. The estimate for eastern europe is dubious – with at least 100, 000 set to stay for than a year, thus making 64, 000 look low.” Source of the above (extracts taken from Teletext and re-written): ITV 1 Teletext, analogue page 323, 2.11.2006 at 5.01 pm. |

UKIP wouldn't have 200 000 people leaving out of disgust, as you well know.

No, they aren't like that. They would stay and try to subvert everything UKIP do. A bit like the EDP do now.

I am sceptical of these official figures, particularly in relation to immigration from the EU - how exactly are these figures compiled?
If they can get away with it the government doesn't even want to regard people coming here from the EU as "immigrants". |

Yes, that's the point Farage made. You can probably multiply the incoming by factor, who knows how much.

Because they would be paying less tax, allowed free speech, no PC, no police state, tough for REAL criminals and out of the EU.
That's why.

UKIP isnt concerned about that. A UKIP government would make very little improvement to our lives. |
