Things like pictures of stereotyped Europeans with begging bowls. That sort of stuff is just offensive to some.
The immigration leaflet scared some people. I had a very bad reaction from people with it. Now I didn't think it was that bad, but the Big EU guy looked ominous and their was just a "nasty" overtone to it. Remember, it's not us we are trying to win over here, but a public that has been bombarded with PC propaganda for years. They were at the point of thinking the questioning of immigration is nasty/racist/xenophobic. You choose. As an opening gambit, UKIP can't affort to set of revulsion instincts, even if they are pc induced. Even now the outlook has changed somewhat, we still have to be clear about what we mean, but sell it the right way. Spin/image/PR/sales, call it what you want. We have to get people through the doors and then we can deprogramme the PC over time. No lying or decieving like Blair and Cameron , but just being aware of our target audience here, IE everyone!

The economic figures can be spun one way or another. However over crowding - which we used to talk about - is hard to argue against. Ideally we would say produce figures for the number of houses will need to be built under other parties' immigration policies in every area in the South East over the next 10 years. Then we could campaign vote UKIP or have x houses built here. Secondly we never challenge anyone who calls the party racist (non actionable) to call party MEPs racist - actionable.

The present government's immigration policy allows unchecked right of entry to largely white EU countries, whilst putting controls on non-european countries which are mostly non-white. UKIP's policy is to treat everyone from outside the UK the same.
So the government's immigration policy is racist, UKIP's is non-racist.
