John Page is just starting out
Default Field says restrictions on new EU countries the "first

Quote:
Mr Field said: 'The Home Secretary should be congratulated for responding to growing public concern over the level of immigration.

'He is right to say that it is not racism driving concern, but rather, the sheer scale and pace of change and the effect such historically high levels of immigration are having on wages and services like housing and healthcare and more fundamentally on the very nature of our community.

'The first and most tangible act John Reid must undertake should be to prevent a further influx of people from Bulgaria and Romania, both expected to join the EU next year, by closing our borders unless all other EU countries agree to open theirs.'

He added: 'The total silence, up to John Reid's statement on immigration, has been a major failure of democratic politics.'

Quote:
Mr Field warned that mass immigration is changing 'the very nature of our community' and stretching public services to breaking point.

Good, but Field seems unwilling to go further at the moment. Also
Quote:
More than 20 Labour MPs have signed a Commons motion calling for aspects of immigration policy - including judgments about the number of immigrants Britain can cope with each year - to be taken out of the hands of politicians.
This is bonkers. This is absolutely a political judgement, and one that their government will have to make. Yes it's a no win, but hard cheese.
