I can't see how you can stop illegal immigration, unless you are prepared to search every single lorry and container coming into the country, which would bring trade to a halt.

I have said on another thread that employers and landlords should be penalised for dealing with illegals, but people will just get false ids.

To crack that problem you'd need a national id system, with everyone's biometrics stored, with scanning devices all over the country so that you could check the status of every person - the cost would be enormous and so would the civil liberty implications.

quote. The only answer is to be ruthless, regardless if they've married and bred children here or not! Once found singles or families their feet shouldn't touch the ground, out! We live on a comparatively small Island and we have too many people trying to live here and very soon it will be impossible to sustain this growing population! The pro immigrants talk about needing these people for the economy but no-one can come up with a guaranteed accurate figure as to what they earn and what they cost! I cannot think that they earn their keep! they can only be in the black economy where they won't be paying taxes!

If the individuals who are used [apart from those who are illegal immigrants] to make sure we do not park in the wrong place or exceed the speed limit were engaged in checking the papers of people who looked foreign or spoke with a foreign accent, I am sure significant progress could be made.

Its not rocket science!

Actually monitoring illegal immigration is possible. You count people coming in and out and from the difference subtract the number of got permission to stay !

Spain does it and they found out a few years ago 90% of Argentinians illegally stay. Of course we would never know that here.

If ten people were taken from the street at random, half of which were foreign and half British. How many of the five foreign do you think you would spot?
