Yes, forward, not backward, and it bodes well for the Euros next year. I would challenge any sephologists not to see this otherwise.

To be fair to UKIP, a 0.1% change isn't really significant. It means that they have held their share of the vote against an increased number of candidates.

What it also means is that they haven't made any progress (or loss) since 2005, and I can't see any particular plan that would suggest this will change any time in the near future. Farage has produced a stagnation for UKIP, largely as we predicted would happen two years ago. It's a shame.

So the plan was to beat UKIP in Henley which would result in their collapse? So what time is Farage making a statement dissolving UKIP then?

But of course I'm being facetious, a marvelous result beating Labour. How wrong I was to question General Nick. Beating a government presiding over a fuel crisis, a housing crash, two unpopular wars, spiraling inflation, and panic buying in supermarkets in their least winnable constituency in the land by a colossal 200 votes, truly the revolution has begun.

And the most telling statistic of all for every one person in Henley that used their vote for Teddy Bear's rights no less than twenty voted to end demographic genocide against their countrymen. I am ashamed that I ever questioned the Party. I beg forgiveness.

Besides all this, what will the EDP do now, they are really not going anywhere it seems and are still lagging far behind the BNP and UKIP. Notice also that the BNP was nearly 50% higher than UKIP, and I think higher or close to that achieved by UKIP in the 2005 GE when UKIP took 2.5%

The Greens will be pleased as punch, bless 'em! Still, no where near their 1989 record Euro vote, though.

Wowbanger's great sense of humour, of course. Unfortunately, such is the **** 'ole of first past the post by-election results.

Again, the media will make far more of this BNP result than almost any other party, and I am sure that of all parties that Labour would want to have been beaten by, it would deffinately not have been the BNP, it is actually quite amusing solely for that reason. I mean, if people think the BNP did badly, how do you think the Greens and UKIP (the 4th largest party in the UK - not any more!) will see this? The Greens only just beat the BNP, that is nothing to get too excited about for them!

I'm, getting tired now, I have to get up for work, so I'll watch for a few more mins then off to snooze land

The BNP have polled 3.6% in what has been agreed is one of its least favourable seats in the country. It is a solid performance, and augurs well for the future. The writing is on the wall for UKIP. There was another election in Blackpool tonight, and the BNP polled 12.3% to UKIP's 1.7 (218 votes to 30). The details are on another thread.

Blackpool was once not a particularly good area for nationalists votes, so that is good news for the BNP, but yet more bad news for UKIP.

What on earth are UKIP going to do? Try and explain being beaten by a party run by Gordon Brown, and ALSO coming in behind the "tree huggers" and "fascists"; yeah some great political write-ups to be had in tomorrow's press.

They are too busy being respectable instead of really taking the EU on and are muddled in the way they have gone along with political correctness. They need to talke a much stronger approach.
