The political ends are described in UKIP's mission statement: UK Independence Party - The UK Independence Party. All the voters, members and activists probably care.

I think we all know your views, Niall. UKIP is a political party. It exists to fight elections and push our point of view. It's the intention that we win some seats one day. You can't win without standing.

It's probably even a cost effective way of getting our point of view across too.
