The BNP can't parachute in it's big name from London,Richard Barnbrook because he's busy serving on the G.L.A.
Didn't two people from UKIP used to do that once?

Last time UKIP put Farage in for a by-election he won 8.1% and beat Labour. I say we should put Nigel in, it would attract tons of press, people would know who he is. And if he campaigns more on post offices, tax, fishing and esp. the smoking ban he could realistically end up with over 10%. I think Nigel's the right candidate for Henley.

UKIP has had much better by-election results than 8% in the past, and using far less cash (he spent over £80K in Bromley).

Having said that, UKIP does need a good result somewhere to encourage the troops. Given that it is a 'safe' Tory seat, the Labour vs Tory factor won't come into play as much, which should mean that UKIP and the Lib Dems have a much better chance of taking Tory and ex-Labour votes.

It might well be worth putting a lot of cash and the highest profile candidate in there.

Wise words. We need to snatch as many Tories as possible, and what we need is a bit of controversy. Maybe to do with how much the Tories and LibDems love Europe. Look how much attention Labour's "toff" campaign got (eventhough it completely backfired).

P.S. Do you know how much UKIP has in its campaign wallet?

Farage has destroyed Ukip Henley SO THEIR IS NO ONE TO SELECT A CANDIDATE, the committee has ceased to exist.

What?? UKIP's NEC just announced that a candidate will be standing.

UKIP could campaign in Henley on the fact that Stanley Johnson used to be an MEP and was certainly not Eurosceptic.

Yes, this would be a good opportunity to attack the Tories for their surrender to our real government in Brussels - a theme to be continued over the next two years presumably.

There is always someone to select a candidate.
Just because you committed personal political suicide by allying yourself with a bunch of Nazis is not the end of the world for the local party.

And the spelling is "there".

UKIP is in the enviable position of not carrying any substantial debt, unlike the big three parties.

However, I don't think that they have a campaign wallet, so to speak, unless you count Alan Bown.

However, I am not sure how willing he will be to part with more cash having, presumably, just had to foot the legal bills for the Electoral Commission court case, which is I believe, due to go to appeal some time soon?

I am sure that other members, maybe not as wealthy as Mr. Bown, will be happy to help out with contributions to a fighting fund for such a high profile by-election.
