Default Should the anti EU parties work together at the next election?

There seems to have been some confusion with the previous poll that I started so I am making another attempt - also, it is possible that you have changed your mind.

If the parties should work together the primary purpose would be to give the electorate to opportunity to vote for:

1] A retrospective referendum on the Reform Treaty.

However, I believe that this could be improved with the following additional policies.

2] The renegotiation of existing EU Treaties whereby other EU nationals were not allowed to work in Britain without a work permit - those already here would need to apply for one. [If the EU could not accommodate this we would hold a referendum on whether we should stay in]

3] The establishment of an English Parliament with at least the same powers as the Scots.

So please vote for or against the total package.

Am I missing something - anyone know why two [out of seven] people from this forum should answer don't know/care?

Seems a central and simple question for anyone interested in getting us out of the EU.

If anyone is voting 'Yes - but with a different package', with or without the BNP - it would help if they could post a brief note saying what changes they would want.

Yes, fair enough. I voted yes to co-operation, but with a different package and without the BNP.

I think that out of your list (1) is probably going to be promised by the Tories anyway, and they are bigger than all the small anti-EU parties combined, so there isn't much point in simply duplicating what they are offering. I don't agree with (2) because it implies that we are happy to stay in the EU (why else would we be campaigning for a regnegotiation of EU arrangements on a specific issue such as immigration?) or with (3) as I support an English grand committee, not a full English parliament.

If you are looking for a platform for co-operation, why not make it a simple and memorable pledge to hold a referendum on our EU membership?

Default All or Nothing?

Asking as an independent, who is it you people dislike about the BNP the leadership or every member? You are given to sweeping generalisations.

I see no sweeping generalisations about the BNP being made - just a poll which asks 'with or without' the BNP. The reason - and I'm presuming - would be that perhaps some parties would work together, but only without the BNP.

Why would that be? - because the BNP are, rightly or wrongly, tarred as the 'racist party'. That is not an issue for debate, it's a fact that that is how they are viewed, by large sections of the population and by the media.

So other parties would not enter into what is in reality an electoral pact with the BNP for fear of being similarly cast as 'racist'.

I don't think that Cameron is going to offer a retrospective referendum - it is an issue which keeps reoccurring. When he first said that he would fight for a referendum, when pushed, he said he would hold one even if the Treaty had been fully implemented if the Tories won the next election, but since then he and Haig have retreated from this position. Usually a sign that the original commitment is to be dropped.

The Lib/Dems suggestion for a referendum on our membership is made to end the question of our membership once and for all. The view is, since virtually all of the well known politicians would campaign for a 'Yes' this would be the outcome. It would then be all over for the anti EU movement. Brown might use this device if he finds he cannot hold the 'no referendum' line.

If the next GE is to be turned into a referendum on the Reform Treaty, it would be most effective if all of the anti EU parties and organisations worked together. These three measures together seem to give UKIP/BNP/ED's each something which is important to them. If any of these are left out the 'referendum' vote will be split.

As C-S says, this was not intended as a slight against BNP, however when I did the previous poll it was clear that UKIp & ED members seemed happy to work together but many would not work with the BNP.

It is just a simple 'gathering of information' exercise.

How can Ukip work with the English Democrats ?. I is already a fact that the English Democrats are best friends with the pro-EU SNP, and share conference platforms !. The only partnership to consider is Ukip / BNP. Together they could win.
