Crossrail, Gordon Brown, election, London, Theresa Villiers MP
Gordon Brown also announced today the go-ahead of the Crossrail project which will link Maidenhead to the west of London with towns to the east of the capital in Essex and Kent via a tunnel under central London from Paddington to Liverpool Street. The new line will pass through or underneath a number of marginal constituencies.
Theresa Villiers, the Conservative MP (who represents the Chipping Barnet constituency in London/Hertfordshire), said on BBC 1 Television London area news at 6.40 pm today "Labour always make these kinds of announcements before an election - it has taken them ten years to get to announcing the go-ahead (of Crossrail)."
The London Mayoral and Assembly elections are to be held next May and Brown might decide to hold a General Election next month.
