Camoran is in deep cow muck with his party and he is expected to change all the green issues at the party meet. He is also expected to go back to tax cuts, grammar schools, real law and order etc. If he does not he has been told in no uncertain words that his party will disintegrate. He is not in a position to talk to anyone and I would also leave UKIP if we started attempting to deals with any Euro loving facists.

Many people would suggest that the party would be better off without some of the MEPs.... and if they jump ship before the EU elections it will just clear the way for someone else on the list to get elected.

True, there is that risk. However political defections aren't that uncommon so I don't think that it would be a devastating blow.

In my opinion for Gordon Brown to call an early election seems pointless. He still has three years to run, and a large majority in Parliament. He can do what he likes. Calling an early election could reduce his majority, and then he would look stupid.
Perhaps he has in mind the 1978 Jim Callaghan 'Winter of Discontent' scenario. Polls can shift down as well as up. Not that David Cameron is going to win, but from G. Brown's point of view, perhaps a better strategy would be to leave the 'Heir to Blair' in place and let him do more damage to the Conservative Party. Really Brown would do better to give himself time for his own distinctive style of politics to take effect. Going early is an admission that he hasn't really got what it takes, and cannot wait around long enough for the electorate to find out. Re the 'Modest Proposal': UKIP should concentrate its resources on campaigning in the areas where it does best in the local elections. There may be scope for a covert tactical voting campaign to support Eurosceptic Tory MPs, somewhere in the background.
