If he can get a majority of 32 now with a policy of parliamentary only endorsement of the EU constitution in the manifesto then he would be mad not to do so. That issue of the EU constitution has been lacking from what I have read about whether Brown will go for the election now or later. Even Richard North hasn't emphasised it for a while.

Columnist John Rentoul wrote in yesterday's Independent on Sunday "There is not the remotest chance that Brown would take the risk of matching George Canning's record as the shortest-serving Prime Minister... The risk of losing may seem small, but it is not one that any Prime Minister would take. Allowing others to speculate is another matter. It works wonders for party discipline."

So, with a 32 seat lead, The Liebourites would still stay in office. Somehow certain aspects of this discussion remind me of when Enoch Powell urged people to vote Labour in the 1970's as they promised a referendum on the Common Markket - and we have an awful lot to thank him for that disaster!

I respect Enoch Powell he did his job back then but the filthy europile Ted Heath stabbed him in the back when he spoke the truth about our country.
Powell should be remembered but Heath should be wiped from our history as he betrayed us and i tell you now i wont miss him!. |

It should be the task of every candidate representing a party opposed to New Labour to expose their South Sea Bubble approach to the economy.
This is an administration that has given MPs the best-ever pension provisions and allowed a Chancellor to wreck the status of ordinary pensioners. Some getting virtually nothing from what they thought they would get. The economy will get worse. I don't like to say it, but the present crowd are masters and mistresses of spin. They have let even more crooks and credit cretins out of the closet than any that they claimed Margaret Thatcher did. £4 BILLION pound spent on mis-selling PPI on finance deals for starters. Then there is the UK sub-prime nonsense to unravel. It appears only those NOT affected by the ghasty errors of this government will vote Labour. By the way, that Ed Balls and his wife, Yvette Cooper, have been quite nicely using their House of Commons travel/being away expenses to buy a second home AND THEN REMORGAGING IT to obtain more cash! What hypocrites!! Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper are no longer socialists!
