Role of 'Anglo-Saxon Books" in building English nationalism

It is an unusual factor, but one of the mainstays of the modern English nationalist movements is the role of Anglo-Saxon Books (Bar) in educating us about Anglo-Saxon England.

I have just received their latest book 'Anglo-Saxon FAQs' by Stephen Pollington, and it covers many (over 100) of the most important aspects of the Anglo-Saxon era which are of such interest today to some at least of the English:

Who were the Anglo-Saxons?
When did England begin?
Were they really Celts?
What about the DNA evidence?

So a definite recommendation for ASBooks (sadly for me I am not on commission from them either!).

I notice their faq seems to side step the issue of whether there was(and there almost certainly wasn't.) large scale, dark age Germanic invasions to England and the British Isles.

I'm not talking from any ideological corner here, after all a genetic difference between us Cornish and the English would be a good thing for my cause most probably, but as someone very interested in dark history and archaeology.

I just quoted a handful of the over 100 FAQs in this new book. The book makes several points about the exceptionalism of Cornwall. For example it notes that Cornwall was outside the main Anglo-Saxon settlement area and that, futher east, Exeter still had British speaking inhabitants into the 10th century.

I really dont think this thread advances the English question or everyday peoples concerns in England.The millions of people of England are not interested in this waffle.They dont wake up first thing in the morning with this rubbish on there minds.They want to know when they are going to get a fair deal and to be treated as equal citizens.They are concerned and worried about Jobs feeling safe in there own homes transport rising crime etc.they want more police on the beat.A decent pension they are worried about rising costs in fuel food housing costs.This thread does nothing what so ever to address those concerns for the people of England.Its just waffle and does nothing to address everday peoples concerns

Nothing wrong in having an interest in ones history.
