What are your views?
In most cases I have no problem with polititians defecting and not having to seek re-election right away. If they defect just a few weeks into a four year term then that may be a different matter.
I think that Ms LeMay's comment that local politics should be party-free is rather silly. Parish, maybe but not district or county. It could be seen as a way of conning the public if a person stands as an Independent but then, as often happens, almost always votes with the same party.

An honourable politician? Who would have thought!

If she has made her constituents fully aware that she is a member of a party that many of her constituents might consider 'distasteful', then, fine she is honourable. If she has not, then she nothing short of deceitful, like most politicians.
