The other answer is to ask the Eng Dems what really happened?
If it is true then O'Connor was right to step down in my opinion and the Eng Dems were fools not to pick one of their own people to stand and not risk putting up an opinionated maverick who clearly has his own ideas that were not shared by the party.

You seem to be digging a deeper hole for yourself.
First you put up an article from the Irish Times - hardly a neutral rag - which records no attempt to ascertain the other side of the story. Even the BBC reports items and adds riders such as "The Home Office declined to comment" or "The Foreign Secretary declined to appear on this programme" etc etc
Now, on the basis of that dubious piece, you start tendering what you 'think' and what should happen!
So, what is your agenda - to discredit the EDP? Do you oppose English nationalism? I think we should be told! You're flying very indistinct colours from your mainmast, and that's usually a bad sign for England and the English!
